Are You Using the Internet to Babysit Your Children? It’s almost the end of the year.  Fantastic! The kids have completed their exams and we are winding down at work, looking forward to a well deserved break.

We plan to put our feet up, relaxing and taking time out, while our kids keep themselves occupied by digging in the garden, flying their kite, playing outside with the kids in the street, kicking a ball around the park with their mates and getting lots of fresh air.

Wait a minute!  Do kids really do all that stuff these days? In most cases, the answer is NO.  

May children today spend hours of their time in the new playground we all know as the Internet.  While it may be comforting to know our kids are close by, there is far more dangers lurking in the electronic world than many parents may think.

Understanding the internet surfing habits of your children will help you to understand how aware they are, when it comes to cyber safety.  Many children are taught cyber safety in school, and learn about the dangers of sharing personal information, and the importance of keeping that information private.

Just like adults, children make mistakes and are learning as they go along.  Installing monitoring software on home computers  will allow a parent to block inappropriate sites and monitor computer activity of children.

Glancing through chat logs,  a parent should recognize friends that are talking to their kids.  If any name is not recognized, the aprent can take appropriate action.
